Why Our Family Loves Essential Oils — And Why Yours Might, Too

Christopher Opfer • December 1, 2024

Welcome to YLFamily.com! If you're new here-Hi! We're so glad you stopped by. This little corner of the internet is where we share our family's journey with wellness, natural living, and of course, our love for Young Living Essential Oils. If you’ve ever been curious about essential oils or wondered what all the buzz is about, you’re in the right place.

So, what “ARE” essential oils anyway?

Let’s start with the basics. Essential oils are the natural aromatic compounds found in plants — extracted from the leaves, bark, roots, flowers, or fruits. Think of them as the “life blood” of the plant, supporting it in the same way they can support us.

Young Living oils are especially close to our hearts because of their Seed to Seal® quality commitment, which ensures every bottle is pure, potent, and responsibly sourced. No fillers, no synthetic junk — just what nature intended.

How We Use Essential Oils Every Day

Using oils isn’t just something we do on special occasions. They’ve become part of our daily routine — just like brushing our teeth or pouring that first cup of coffee . . . yes, we still enjoy coffee . . . we’re human after all!

Here are a few ways our family uses them:

  • Morning wake-up call: A few drops of Peppermint and Lemon in the diffuser help everyone shake off the sleepies and start the day with a smile.

  • Immune support: Especially during cold and flu season, we use our Thieves Vitality oil before school, work, or errands. We also like Inner Defense and Longevity as an easy essential oil filled capsule.

  • Homework and focus time: A blend like GeneYus, KidPower, or peppermint helps our kids stay on track when it’s time to hit the books.

  • Calm down time: After a busy day, Lavender in the diffuser or a little Peace & Calming on wrists can work magic for bedtime routines. Oliver and Owen, our two boys, love SleepyIze and Seedlings calm as part of their “nighttime oils.”

  • Cleaning without chemicals: We’ve swapped out most of our conventiona l cleaning supplies for Thieves Household Cleaner.

  • Mood support: Honestly, some days just need a little emotional boost. That’s when Joy, Valor, or Stress Away come into play. Use Valor, Harmony, Joy, and White Angelica as part of the Great Day Protocol . . . or we just call them our Happy Oils.

Why You Might Want to Make the Leap

When we first heard about essential oils, we were intrigued — but also skeptical. Was this just another wellness trend? Could a few drops of “plant oil” really make a difference?

Well, we gave it a shot — and now we can’t imagine life without them.

Here’s why we think you might love bringing essential oils into your home:

  • They empower you to take charge of your wellness—naturally.
  • They’re versatile: From physical health to emotional support, there’s an oil (or blend!) foralmost everything.
  • They reduce your toxin load: Say goodbye to synthetic fragrances and chemical cleaners.
  • They bring a sense of peace and intention to your home environment.
  • They smell really good.Let’s not underestimate the power of a space that just feels good.

Hey Young Living Family! Let’s talk about something we all deal with at one point or another — body discomfort. Whether it’s sore muscles after a tough workout, creaky joints on cold mornings, or the general “my back hurts and I don’t know why” kind of pain, it can really get in the way of everyday life.

Hey Young Living Family! Let’s take a big, deep breath together. Feels good, right? Our lungs and respiratory system do so much for us every day (we take nearly 2,000 breaths per day) — but we often don’t think about them until something feels off. Whether it’s allergy season, a lingering cough, or just wanting to breathe a little deeper, supporting your respiratory health is something you can do every single day—naturally.
